The Destinations: Five places worth your time
Where To Go
Athens
Where every Greece trip starts, and where most people don’t stay long enough. The Acropolis early in the morning before the heat and the crowds, the Acropolis Museum after, then Plaka and Psiri for long dinners and rooftop views.
Santorini
The one you’ve seen a thousand times, and it still doesn’t prepare you. Whitewashed villages stacked along a volcanic caldera, cliffside suites with private plunge pools, and sunsets people plan entire trips around.
Mykonos
Greece with the volume turned up. Beach clubs that run until sunrise, designer shopping in whitewashed alleys, and some of the best people-watching in the Mediterranean. Best for travelers who want to be out, not in.
Crete
The island that needs a week, not a weekend. Its own cuisine, its own dialect, Minoan palaces older than the Acropolis, and beaches on the south coast most visitors never reach.
Delphi
The one almost nobody plans for. The ancient Greeks called it the center of the world, and standing in the mountains above the ruins, you understand why. Best as a day trip or overnight from Athens.
Important Note
Delphi and Crete aren’t part of the featured itinerary below, but both can be built into a custom trip. Just ask.

Island-hopping is where most Greece trips go wrong.
Athens has two different ferry ports. Schedules change by season. The fast boats sell out well before the slow ones. Knowing which ferry, from which port, with how much time between islands is the difference between a smooth trip and a stressful one. Don’t worry; I have it handled!

When to go to Greece.
Best Months
Late April – June and September – October. Warm water, manageable crowds, and better pricing than peak summer.
Peak Season
July and August. Hottest, busiest, and most expensive — but the energy is unmatched if that's what you're after.
Worth Knowing
Many island hotels and restaurants close November through March. Athens is excellent year-round.
Trip Length
Most Greece trips run 7 to 10 days. Anything shorter and the ferries eat your time.
